After defeating the Nanaimo Clippers 4-0 on Friday night in Nanaimo, the Bulldogs will return to the Dawg Pound to host the Clippers tonight at 7pm.
The Bulldogs got goals from newcomers Jack Ziliotto, Wyatt Blace and Jimmy Lyver before Zeke Nicholson sealed the deal with an empty-netter late in the 3rd period.
Callum Tung was exceptional in goal for the Bulldogs as he turned aside all 34 shots the Clippers managed to throw his way. Tung was especially sharp on a couple of late penalty kills as he battled to preserve the shutout.
If there was a knock on the total team win, it was the fact that Bulldogs allowed the Clippers to head to the man-advantage a whopping 8 times on the night. The silver-lining, they managed to kill off all 8 opportunities.
With the scene shifting back to Port Alberni tonight, the line-up will see its fair share of changes. Veteran’s Nicholas Beneteau, Braden Blace and Jax Wismer draw into the line-up along with key recruits Lucas Buzziol and Grayson Badger. The game will also feature the Bulldogs debut of Hayden Stavroff. Stavroff was acquired in the off-season from the Salmon Arm Silverbacks to complete a trade from December.
Ukrainian goaltender Gleb Artsatbanov will dress alongside Tung for tonight’s contest.
